FAQ

Dress Code

The dress code is dressy casual / comfortable. Ties are optional. You are welcome to dress in traditional formal attire if it suits you. Wear comfy shoes.

Vaccinations

Please make sure all adults are fully vaccinated. We want to make sure everyone is safe.
Update: New York is requiring proof of vaccination for all indoor activities so make sure you bring your card.

Honeyfund

We are not expecting any gifts at our wedding. Because we are moving to LA soon, we are trying to pare down what we own. I know it’s cheesy but your presence is gift enough. If you are feeling extra generous and would like to support our honeymoon or our new lives together, you can contribute to our honeyfund by sending a donation to paypal.me/jpbruneau or venmo @john-bruneau with "honeyfund" in the note. This is only if you really really really want to.

Fun things to do in NYC

See the Statue of Liberty from the Staten Island Ferry

The Staten Island Ferry is free and it goes right by the Statue of Liberty. No reservations needed. It departs every 30min. I recommend going right before sunset then taking the next ferry back and seeing it at night. If you run you can catch the next farry without spending too much time in Staten Island

Take a East River Ferry

We feel the biggest public transportation improvement in the City in the last five years (since we have been here) has been the East River ferries that connect Manhattan with Brooklyn. On the BK side, DUMBO/Fulton, North Williamsburg, Rockaway are stops within walking distance of popular distinations; Manhattan side any stop is good for getting around. Check the ferry map

Walk the Highline

This is one of John's favorite things to do in the City. It is a park built on top of old train lines above the city. You get a cool view with trees and plants around you and the city below you. Thehighline.org

Times Square

Locals love to hate on Times Square but John still loves it. If you have never been to NYC before it is definitely worth seeing.

Shakespeares in the Park

Yuxin's favorite Central Park activity is jogging(5 miles a lap, if you are up for it!). Otherwise, the Delacorte Theater in Central Park has a "Shakespeares in the Park" program in the summer that offers free lottery tickets to the public for Shakespeare plays. More Info.

Storm King Outdoor Museum, or Dia Beacon

Take the Metro North from 125th Street along the Hudson River for 1.5 hours to Beacon. We really like these two museums. The upstate hilly streets make me feel that I'm in England's countryside(I've never been there) instead of Rat City.

...More Museums

NYC has a lot of Museums. Here are some we definitely recommend. Check their websites for discounts and sometimes free days.
The Museum of the Moving Image
The Whitney
The Met Cloisters

Arts in Bushwick and Dumbo

Real artists live in Bushwick in NYC. (If you don't, you are not a real artist. Sorry!) Keep an eye on Arts in Bushwick Calendar and Dumbo Open Studios for exhibitions and events.

John's favorite places to eat

I always try to take friends to one of these places. They can be a bit popular but you can go at and off time to avoid crowds.
Roberta's Pizza in Bushwick
Juliana's Pizza in Dumbo
Katz's Delicatessen

Yuxin's favorite places to go

I always try to take friends to seek out one of these places/activities. ^_^
